First penned in 1887 by Lady Wilde who went by the name 'Speranza', meaning 'hope', this book gifts the reader with a mindset of the time, place and the English language. Many of the superstitions have lasted generations, while the stories have been passed on to children and grandchildren, keeping Irish mysticism alive and thriving. Every effort was made during the formatting and reproduction of the original, earliest text, to maintain its integrity while at the same time making it easier to read with updated clear fonts, index and headings. The Index itself is listed over eight pages with corresponding pages to 160 articles ranging from a few lines to several pages on Ancient Legends of Ireland and expanding into a myriad of distinct subjects relating to the Irish and their heritage and Celtic Spirituality.
