Annie Mae Jenkins is a 16-year-old high school dropout living in a housing project with her mother and four brothers. Annie Mae is the third in a series of novels by Wynetta Gillespie. The backdrop of this novel like the others is centered on a fragile family structure with all of the trappings of a public housing project. Through the pen of the author you will meet a young girl, a 16-year-old high school dropout and her Gangsta brother, both trapped in a reality ruled by chaos. An eerie relationship of sadness, sorrow and joy is projected by the author as she introduces you to their family, friends and peers.
