David Carson (born September 8, 1956 in Corpus Christi, Texas) is a prominent American graphic designer, typographer, and art director. Before delving into design, he was a professional surfer, reaching ninth place in the world ranking during his college years. He graduated in Sociology in 1977 from San Diego State University.

Carson is recognized for his innovative and experimental approach to graphic design, especially during his work on magazines such as "Transworld Skateboarding" (1983-1987), "Beach Culture" (1989-1991), and "Ray Gun" (1992-1995). In 1995, he published "The End of Print: The Graphic Design of David Carson", a compilation of his work that became a reference in the design world. His disruptive style has influenced contemporary design, challenging traditional conventions and prioritizing aesthetics over conventional legibility.
