Synopsis "Burmese Manuscripts. Part 4: Catalogue Numbers 736-900"

Im 4. Band der Reihe werden ausschliesslich birmanische Handschriften aus dem Besitz der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek Munchen beschrieben. Die 105 Codices enthalten 165 Texte der kanonischen, nachkanonischen und ausserkanonischen Literatur des Buddhismus in Pali sowie Ubersetzungen aus dem Pali ins Birmanische (nissayas), die Pali-Ubersetzung eines astrologischen Sanskrit-Werkes, ausserdem einige andere nicht-buddhistische Texte. Unter den Handschriften befinden sich zahlreiche Kammavaca-Texte. Etwa zwei Drittel der Texte sind datiert und zum grossen Teil in der zweiten Halfte des 19. Jahrhunderts niedergeschrieben worden. Die alteste Handschrift stammt aus dem Jahre 1767, die jungste ist von 1941. Auch in diesem Band finden wir wieder einige Handschriften, die ausserhalb Birmas nur selten nachzuweisen sind.
