J. Robert King is an American novelist born in Phoenix, Arizona, known for his prolific career in fantasy and science fiction literature. He has significantly contributed to role-playing game universes such as Dungeons & Dragons, writing novels for settings like Ravenloft (Heart of Midnight, 1992) and Dragonlance (Vinas Solamnus, 1996). He is also the author of the Planescape Blood Wars trilogy, consisting of Blood Hostages (1996), Abyssal Warriors (1996), and Planar Powers (1997), the latter awarded the Origins Award for Best Game-Related Fiction

In the universe of Magic: The Gathering, King wrote several notable novels, including The Thran (1999) and the Invasion cycle trilogy: Invasion (2000), Planeshift (2001), and Apocalypse (2001). Additionally, he published Scourge (2003) as part of the Onslaught cycle. Beyond epic fantasy, he has explored other genres with works like Angel of Death (2009) and Death's Disciples (2010). His Arthurian trilogy, consisting of Mad Merlin (2000), Lancelot du Lethe (2001), and Le Morte D'Avalon (2003), showcases his narrative versatility. He currently resides in Wisconsin and continues to write both fantasy and contemporary fiction.
