Synopsis "Critical Buckling Analysis of Composite Laminate under Biaxial Loading"

This work an attempt has been made to find the trend of change in critical buckling load when plate aspect ratio is changed under the biaxial loading. Also the change in critical buckling load for plates with rectangular cutout and without cutout has been found out. The plates with rectangular cutout having different ratios of cutout depth to breadth are also studied in this work. The composite materials are orthotropic in nature. Theoretical analysis by using ANSYS requires seven constants instead of two for isotropic analysis. Certain basic experiments are required to be performed to determine these constants. Special care must be taken to ensure that desired information is obtained correctly. Because the orthotropic introduces coupling between normal stresses and shear strains and also between shear stresses and normal, shear strains when loaded in non principal material coordinates.
