James Clayton «Jim» Dobson (b. April 21, 1936 in Shreveport, Louisiana) is an American Christian psychologist, and president of the organization Focus on the Family, a nonprofit founded by Dobson in1977. He produces the daily radio program Focus on the Family, broadcast in over a dozen languages, on more than 7000 radio stations worldwide, with an audience of more than 220 million people in 164 countries. Focus on the Family is carried by over 60 American television stations daily. In 1981, he founded the Family Research Council.
Dobson is an evangelical Christian with conservative views in both theology and politics. He was recently named the «Most Influential Evangelical Leader in America» by Christianity Today magazine, and many see him as the successor to evangelical leaders Billy Graham, Jerry Falwell, and Pat Robertson.
