Poppy Lane thinks she has her life mapped out. The talented London art photographer lives with her aristocratic boyfriend, Lawrence Atherton, and expects a marriage proposal. While traveling Europe in preparation for her first exhibition, she meets Damiano Monteiro, an enigmatic Portuguese archeologist who recovers stolen artifacts. Although the attraction is instant, she doesn't expect to see him again.

Damiano has recently retrieved an ancient Cupid figurine rumored to bring luck in love. As Poppy seeks creative inspiration, she keeps encountering Damiano across Europe guided by mysterious clues and coincidences. He sweeps her off her feet and unleashes his romantic imagination on her. Poppy's carefully planned future begins to unravel.

But Damiano's risky business dealings soon place both their lives in danger. Meanwhile, Poppy discovers that Lawrence's idea of their future together is in stark contrast to her own.
