Hans und Karl Vollmoeller gehören zu den frühen deutschen Luftfahrtpionieren. Hans war der Flieger und zählt zu den "Alten Adlern", sein älterer Bruder Karl war der Konstrukteur. Der Vater der beiden, Robert Vollmoeller, betrieb in Stuttgart-Vaihingen eine Trikotagenfabrik, die um 1910 mit 3000 Mitarbeitern als die weltweit grö te Trikotagenfabrik galt.
