Synopsis "El Camino A La Democracia En España: 1931 Y 1978 (in Spanish)"

Manuel Álvarez Tardío (Madrid, 1972) is a Spanish historian and political scientist, specialized in the political history of the Second Republic and the democratic transition in Spain. PhD from the Complutense University of Madrid, he serves as a tenured professor at Rey Juan Carlos University. His academic focus is on the relationships between politics and religion, institutional analysis, and democratic processes during the interwar period.

Among his most notable works are Anticlericalism and Freedom of Conscience (2002), The Road to Democracy in Spain (1931–1978) (2005), The Price of Exclusion (2010, co-authored with Roberto Villa García), 1936. Fraud and Violence in the Elections of the Popular Front (2017, with Roberto Villa García) and Crossfire. The Spring of 1936 (2024, with Fernando del Rey). His work has sparked significant debates in contemporary historiography, especially for his critical analysis of the political and electoral dynamics of the Second Republic.
