Y, sin embargo, desde hace casi una década, una serie de acontecimientos nos revela su ominoso retorno: los nacionalismos étnicos de derecha radical están de vuelta con niveles significativos de respaldo social a nivel internacional.Bajo una concepción moderna de la historia, Gobiernos como los de Donald Trump, en los Estados Unidos, y Viktor Orbán, en Hungría, o fenómenos como el brexit en el Reino Unido, no deberían estar ocurriendo. Pero suceden. Más aún, persisten en el tiempo, incluso cuando las condiciones que les habrían dado origen se desvanecen. Este libro busca explicar esa aparente anomalía, así como explorar los alcances de ese fenómeno que los académicos denominan «derecha populista radical».

Farid Kahhat (Lima, 1959) is a Peruvian sociologist, political scientist, and internationalist of Palestinian origin. He holds a degree in Sociology from PUCP and earned his PhD in Government at the University of Texas, Austin. He serves as a professor of International Relations at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and at the Diplomatic Academy of Peru, and is a columnist for media outlets such as El Comercio and América Economía, as well as a commentator on CNN en Español and host of the podcast International Scene-

Among his most notable works are: The Eternal Return: The Radical Right in the Contemporary World (2019, essay), International Security: A Critical Introduction (2019, essay), Pandemics, Dragons and Living Dead: Political Science in Unexpected Places (2021, co-authored with Gabriela Camacho), Violent Times: Russia, Ukraine, China, the United States and the New World Disorder (2022, co-authored with Clemente Rodríguez), and Against the Phantom Threat: The Radical Right in Latin America and the Reinvention of a Common Enemy (2024, essay). These works belong to the genre of political analysis and contemporary history. No literary awards are associated with them.
