Synopsis "El Libro Blanco (in Spanish)"

Aided by the same full-color illustrations found in the first edition, this novel is the psychological profile of a tormented man. The semiautobiographical narrative describes a youth's love affairs with a succession of boys and men during the early years of the 20th century after self-deceptive attempts to find fulfillment, first through women and then by way of the church. Since his tragedy comes not only from his high sensibility, but also from his inability to satisfy his desires without involving his heart, each of the protagonist's sentimental or sexual escapades opens up a painful wound. Asistida por las mismas ilustraciones a todo color que se hallan en la primera edición, esta novela es el retrato psicológico de un hombre atormentado. La narrativa parcialmente autobiográfica describe los amoríos de un joven con una sucesión de jóvenes y hombres durante los primeros años del siglo XX después de intentos auto-engañosos por encontrar satisfacción, primero mediante las mujeres y luego mediante la iglesia. Como su drama no procede sólo de su extrema sensibilidad, sino también del no poder satisfacer sus deseos sin que se vea afectado el corazón, cada una de las aventuras sentimentales o sexuales del protagonista abre una dolorosa herida en su alma.
