Unsere Hypothese entstand, als wir bei der Durchsicht - während der Vorbereitung unserer Magisterarbeit, aus der dieser Text hervorging - der meisten Texte Horkheimers aus den 1930er Jahren und dem folgenden Jahrzehnt feststellten, dass der Autor die Doppelherrschaft diskutiert, ohne Überlegungen zu ihren spezifischen Varianten anzustellen.
