Synopsis "Escaping Taliban Torture: Human Rights taken literally!"

During the final editing of this book the Vienna Balkan Conference took place. As an opening two soccer teams (EU and non-EU) had a friendly game on Viennese lawn! At the same time several hundred refugees drowned in the Medi-terranean Sea, 71 refugees were found suffocated in an outside-locked truck parked in a highway breakdown bay 30 miles east of Vienna, hundreds of men were tortured in Syria and Libya, some decapitated and many women raped. The Austria Foreign Minister presented a 5 points plan to control the enormous refugee migration to Europe and requests an European solution to end the demonization of the refugees - but this will certainly take long time! The countries with the highest admission (Germany, Sweden, Austria, ...) and the Mediterranean countries like Italy and Greece are re-quired to organize the registration fast and correctly. Transit countries like Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary (certainly not awarded for its treatment of refugees) and others must receive help from the EU, in order to allow refugees a human and secure transit to their target country. If the EU will undergo the same effort for refugees like for a country in financial problems there is hope for the millions of innocent people fleeing their beloved homes for peace and better life. Qumars "trip" from Rukkan (Pakistan) on the "Balkan route" was not a usual one, but a flee in constant danger of live - even by the authorities in the transit countries. Therefore the trip report became a confrontation with the current refugee situation in Europe and especially in Austria - today and in a historical view. We hope to have delivered a small contribution to intercultural understanding and understanding of foreign cultures and religions - so: Human Rights taken literally!
