Synopsis "Fine Accruing"

A good librarian never leaves a loose end. Sanchia Kassiani is a very good librarian. She reshelves what's out of place. She keeps the branch in order. She knows every patron by name—including the ones who shouldn't be allowed around other people. The man who terrorizes the children's section. The regular who thinks a library card entitles him to a great deal more than books. Her spineless manager, Craig, who has never once been where he's supposed to be. Sanchia has a system for all of them. It's methodical, it's unhurried, and it ends the same way every time. But systems have a way of drawing attention, and the more overdue accounts Sanchia settles, the harder it becomes to keep her weekends off the record. Some fines you pay. Some fines come collecting.
