Synopsis "Heatwave"

Park City, Utah, is home to movie stars, world-class resorts, the Sundance Film Festival...and murder. On a scorching-hot July afternoon, an environmental activist is found murdered in her Deer Valley yoga studio. Assigned to catch the woman's killer is recently promoted Park City Police Detective Lincoln Coulter. Much to Link's surprise, the homicide is kept quiet by people representing Deer Valley Resort who fear that news of a murder in the affluent resort area will destroy the bustling summer tourist trade. With a special election just days away that will allow the voters of Summit County to decide whether or not to sell a large portion of a nearby nature preserve to a development company called the Sundial Corporation who plans to build affordable housing on the land, Link begins to suspect that Sundial is responsible for the woman's murder. When the scientist behind a study detailing the environmental impact of developing the nature preserve turns up dead in a Salt Lake City parking garage, Link knows without a doubt that the Sundial Corporation is responsible for both murders, but proving his theory will be tricky. As he digs deeper, Link uncovers a conspiracy involving Sundial, a crooked Park City Councilman, a pair of Mormon hitmen, and high ranking members of the Mormon Church. Link realizes his own life is in danger, yet he's still responsible for keeping the peace in a town where the locals and tourists alike are acting crazy from the record-setting heat.
