In Kronach, der Geburtsstadt Lucas Cranachs d. Ä., ist eine internationale Werkschau des Künstlers geplant. Museen aus aller Welt unterstützen mit Leihgaben die Ausstellung. Wie eine Bombe platzt die Drohbotschaft "Kill Cranach" in die Vorbereitungen. Ist das die Ankündigung eines terroristischen Anschlags, oder "nur" der Ausdruck fehlgeleiteter Gewaltfantasie eines Verrückten? Die hohe Gefährdungslage erfordert dringend Verstärkung. Kräfte der Bereitschaftspolizei, Kollegen aus Bamberg, des Landeskriminalamtes in München und sogar des amerikanischen FBI versuchen gemeinsam ein nahtloses Sicherheitskonzept zu entwickeln, um eine Katastrophe für die Kunstwelt zu verhindern. Der Kronacher Oberkommissar Götz Flö er verlässt sich bei der Klärung dieses Falles eher auf seine Intuition und die seiner Kollegin Yildiz vom türkischen Zoll, mit der er den Fall "Die Rosenbergs Pergamente" erfolgreich gelöst hat.
