Zwei altgriechische Dialekte sind nicht im Alphabet, sondern in einem der ägäischen Syllabare überliefert: Mykenisch und Kyprisch. Das an der östlichen Peripherie gelegene Kyprische ist Gegenstand dieses Handbuchs. Es bietet als Hauptteil einen ersten Band mit einer Grammatik, die vor allem die Chronologie der Inschriften berücksichtigt. Der zweite Band soll die Arbeit mit der Grammatik erleichtern und bietet dazu den Text der Inschriften mit Übersetzung, eine umfangreiche Bibliographie und Indices. Die Darstellung soll die weitere Forschung zur Herausbildung der griechischen Dialektlandschaft im Rahmen der Indogermanistik und der Klassischen Philologie anregen, und auch als Hilfe dienen zur Herstellung eines Corpus der Syllabarinschriften sowie zur Erarbeitung der Palaeographie der noch unzureichend bekannten Schrift dieser Inschriften.
