En plena temporada de verano en la pequeña población costera de Fjällbacka, un niño descubre el cadáver de una turista alemana cruelmente torturada. Muy cerca, la policía encuentra los esqueletos de dos mujeres desaparecidas hace veinte años.
La joven pareja formada por la escritora Erica y el detective Patrik disfrutan de unas merecidas vacaciones. Erica está embarazada de ocho meses y el calor sofocante del verano vuelve especialmente difícil este último mes de gestación. La última cosa que necesitan ambos es un nuevo caso de asesinatos, pero el malhumorado comisario Mellberg incluye rápidamente a Patrik en los acontecimientos. Camilla Läckberg (Sweden, 1974) published her first novel, The Ice Princess, in 2003, set in Fjällbacka, the coastal region where she was born and raised. Due to its great success, she left her career as an economist and became the mystery novelist she always dreamed of being.

She has been recognized, among others, with the Woman of the Year award in Sweden, the Folket awards and the SKTF award for Best Author of the Year, the Grand Prize for Crime Literature in France, and the People's Literature Award.
