Jorge Luis Borges (Buenos Aires, 1899 – Geneva, 1986) was one of the most influential writers of the 20th century, noted for his originality and literary precision. His work, primarily in the genres of short stories, essays, and poetry, redefined literature in the Spanish language. Throughout his life, he cultivated unparalleled erudition, with constant references to philosophy, metafiction, labyrinths, and the infinite.

Among his most recognized works are Fictions (1944), The Aleph (1949), The Maker (1960), and The Book of Sand (1975). Although he never received the Nobel Prize, he did obtain numerous international accolades for his work. His legacy continues to be a subject of study and admiration in the literary world worldwide.

Adolfo Bioy Casares was born in Buenos Aires on September 15, 1914. Dedicated from a young age to literature, the publication of The Invention of Morel in 1940 marks the beginning of a vast literary career that he unfolded in short stories, novels, essays, diaries, and collaborative works with his wife, the writer Silvina Ocampo, and Jorge Luis Borges. Some of his most notable works include Plan de Evasión, El sueño de los héroes, Diario de la guerra del cerdo, Dormir al sol, La trama celeste, Historias desaforadas, Una muñeca rusa, and Una magia modesta. Decorated as a Knight of the Legion of Honor, he received, among other awards, the Municipal Literature Prize, the National Literature Prize, the Honor Prize from the Argentine Writers Society, the International Alfonso Reyes Prize, and the Cervantes Prize. He died in Buenos Aires on March 8, 1999.
