Magic Rewritten - Harlowe Frost

It's only been a few weeks since everyone on Earth learned that not only are aliens real, but so is magic. Pillar Betsy Doeth has spent as much time as she could in front of cameras answering questions to the general population, only less awful because she gets to spend time with the chanziian liaison Major Violet North. Despite her and Violet's efforts, new magic users have decided to learn their own truths. Some have turned to religion, others the university and scientists, and some are off on their own. It all boils down to personal choice until reports come in of missing people.

Since magic is dangerous, the Pillars have offered resources to any and all who ask, but with their website sponsored by the government, several other sites have put up warnings, boycotting them. 

Meanwhile, one person in particular has gone missing, the daughter of the Mayor of Oz, the town of magic users. Betsy knows this girl, and her unexplained disappearance triggers something deep in her. She wouldn't have left on her own and there's no traces of a kidnapping. If she was collected by one of the scientific studies, well, eleven years old is too young to consent to be a scientific study subject. This family has become more than just friends to Betsy and she will see the girl brought home safely. There is no stone on Earth Betsy won't turn in her search. 

The problem is, no one knows where she was taken. Will Betsy be able to find the child in time? And can she balance her other responsibilities with her desperate mission to save the child?
