Der Band ist aus einer gemeinsamen Tagung des Interdisziplinären Zentrums für Ethik an der Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) und des Lehrstuhls für Sozialwissenschaften am Internationalen Hochschulinstitut in Zittau hervorgegangen. Ziel war es, Transformationsökonomien, insbesondere aus dem mittelosteuropäischen Raum, aus wirtschaftsethischer Perspektive zu analysieren und nach möglichen Lösungsansätzen für deren spezifisch moralische Probleme in der Übergangsphase zu suchen. Dazu trafen sich Wissenschaftler aus Ru land, Polen, der Schweiz und aus Deutschland zum gemeinsamen Expertengespräch in Frankfurt (Oder). Das Problemfeld der Wirtschafts- und Unternehmensethik in Transformationsökonomien wurde dabei sowohl aus der Praxisperspektive als auch aus theoretischer Perspektive beleuchtet. Die sozialen und kulturellen Differenzen zwischen den einzelnen Ländern kamen ebenso zur Sprache wie die unternehmerischen Probleme im Bereich internationaler Kooperationen.
