John E Mack, a Harvard psychiatrist, won the Pulitzer Prize for his biography of T E Lawrence, A Prince of Our Disorder, from 1976, and gained fame and notoriety for his 1994 bestseller Abduction: Human Encounters with Aliens. John always cared about social causes, especially nuclear threats and the human environment, in addition to believing in alien abductions. Dr. Mack was the founding director of the Center for Psychological Studies in the Nuclear Age and actively participated as a member of Physicians for Social Responsibility and International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War. His interest in the stories of people who claimed to have been abducted by aliens (he called them his “experiencers”) began in 1990.
