Stephen King (Portland, Maine, September 21, 1947) is one of the most influential and prolific authors of contemporary literature, famous for revitalizing the horror genre and captivating millions of readers worldwide. He graduated in English Language from the University of Maine and worked as a teacher before dedicating himself fully to writing after the success of his first novel, Carrie (1974). Since then, he has published more than 60 novels and hundreds of short stories, many under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, with iconic titles such as The Shining, IT, Misery, The Dark Tower, Pet Sematary, and The Green Mile, many of which have been successfully adapted into films and television.
