En el año 52 d. C, las tribus occidentales de la Britania, inspiradas por el gran odio de los druidas hacia los romanos, se preparan para atacar. ¿Serán capaces de enfrentarse a la disciplina y el coraje de los legionario? Malherido durante una escaramuza, el centurión Macro se ve obligado a en atrás a cargo del campamento como prefecto, mientras Cato rechaza la invasión por las colinas. Su misión: derrocar la fortaleza druida para así consolidar el triunfo de Roma sobre los nativos. Pero el invierno ya se acerca y el terreno empieza a ser impracticable a causa de las tormentas de nieve y la lluvia helada . Cuando las patrullas que Macro tiene apostadas en las proximidades de la guarnición le informan de que los nativos empiezan a dispersarse, una terrible sospecha se forma en la mente del centurión, ya acostumbrada a las cicatrices de las batallas. ¿Habrá subestimado el gobernador en funciones, el legado Quintatus , al enemigo? ¿Estará su juicio militar socavado por la ambición? Si es así, si se ha tramado algún plan sofisticado…, Cato y sus hombres lo pagarán caro.

British writer born in Nigeria, Simon Scarrow lived in several countries before residing in the United Kingdom. He graduated in Teaching at the University of East Anglia and, after working for the Inland Revenue agency, he took a position as a teacher at City College Norwich.

Scarrow began publishing in the year 2000, and in 2005, following the success of his first novels, he left his day job to dedicate himself to writing full-time.

Scarrow is the author of historical fiction novels, most of them set in the Roman Empire, although he has also written about Bonaparte and the Duke of Wellington in his Revolution series.

Among his works, titles such as The Eagle of the Empire, Centurion, The Gladiator, or Blood Crows, among others, should be highlighted.
