El manga original que dio origen a la famosa serie de TV. La historia de cómo Ranma Saotome y su padre Genma fueron a entrenar al legendario Jusenkyo de China y terminan cayendo en una de las varias surgientes de ese lugar, famoso por contener una maldición. Así es como cada vez que se mojan con agua fría Ranma se convierte en mujer y Genma en oso panda, y deben mojarse con agua caliente para poder regresar a la normalidad. La trama se complica cuando Ranma vuelve a Japón y descubre que su padre lo comprometió con Akane Tendo, la hija de su mejor amigo. Mientras Ranma y Akane tratan de deshacer la maldición, deberán hacerle frente a un ejército de personajes delirantes que querrán enamorar a uno y exterminar al otro.
