La emergente computación omnipresente se considera una solución prometedora para los sistemas de atención sanitaria personal y de ayuda de emergencia, que puede controlar el estado de salud personal en tiempo real y emitir automáticamente la alerta de ayuda médica en caso de emergencia. Sólo emplea los diminutos sensores vestibles para recoger continuamente las señales vitales del usuario y el dispositivo Zigbee para transmitir los datos sensoriales a un ordenador, que puede realizar el almacenamiento y el proceso de datos vitales in situ. Después de procesar los datos locales, el teléfono móvil puede utilizar su módulo GSM para informar periódicamente del estado de salud de los usuarios al centro de salud y emitir una alerta de ayuda médica una vez detectada la emergencia. Este sistema puede satisfacer los requisitos de un sistema real de asistencia sanitaria personal y de ayuda de emergencia.
