Phil Rogers fue un ceramista, profesor y escritor galés, considerado una figura destacada de la cerámica de estudio británica. Nació en Newport, Gales, en 1951 y falleció en diciembre de 2020.

Inicialmente tenía interés en convertirse en pintor y estudió en escuelas de arte de Gales. Sin embargo, durante su formación descubrió la cerámica y comenzó a desarrollar sus habilidades como alfarero. En la década de 1970 trabajó como profesor de arte y cerámica en Inglaterra antes de dedicarse profesionalmente a la alfarería.

A partir de 1978 desarrolló su propia producción cerámica en Gales. Su obra estuvo influenciada por distintas tradiciones, especialmente por la cerámica británica y las tradiciones de Japón y Corea. Se especializó en piezas de gres, esmaltes de ceniza y esmaltes de sal, utilizando materiales naturales como cenizas de madera y minerales locales.

Además de producir piezas, Rogers tuvo una importante labor como educador y divulgador. Impartió talleres, conferencias y demostraciones en diferentes países y fue mentor de numerosos ceramistas. También ocupó cargos dentro de la Craft Potters Association y fue miembro de la International Academy of Ceramics.
