Sapidus: Poemas y cuentos para niños de todas las edades, cuyo nombre y portada se los debo a Sally Grigsby (10 años de edad), se inició en mi casa allá por el año 2006 y fue creciendo con el tiempo. Algunos de estos dinámicos poemas los he puesto a prueba enseñando español como segunda lengua en escuelas primarias, secundarias y (primer año) en universidades estadounidenses. La cálida recepción de los estudiantes me motivó a seguir escribiendo y haciendo de mis clases un genuino laboratorio lingüístico. Con ellos buscaba un enlace con la cultura de nuestros pueblos y, al mismo tiempo, contrarrestar el sentimiento de tedio de que se quejan los estudiantes de acuerdo con la investigación: Voices of Students on Engagement: A Report on the 2006 High School Survey of Students Engagement.
