Darien, now coming to terms with both the loss of his home and his abilities as a newly christened Ryudojin that binds him to a precocious young dragon, finds himself becoming immersed deeper and deeper into the intrigue plaguing his adopted homeland. The mad tyrant Bamaul is furthering his own insidious plans as Darien and his friends continue on their journey to overthrow the tyrant king. During his travels Darien will find that there may be even more to what drives Bamaul towards his incomprehensible goals than what he had previously been led to believe. He begins to accept that the events of the world around him may be more complex than what any of them had initially thought and he is determined to set things right. New friends, enemies and questionable allies enter Darien's life as the young man from Village Breathwynd must attempt to discern friend from foe while trying his best to stay alive. As a Ryudojin, he has also learned a great deal about the young dragon he is now bound to for better or for worse, but just getting her to concentrate long enough to accomplish anything often proves to be more trouble than it's worth!
