Perhaps it's because the Appalachian Mountains are an echo of Scotland. It was in these southern states that the echoes of Scotland resounded through songs, hymns, and storytelling-especially Christmas stories. A young man from Washington D.C. told her, "It's different in the South. A much slower pace. People are friendly and kind down here. I love the South. I would never move back to D.C." One thing about southerners, even if born in the city-they love the land. Their rich heritage. And they love celebrating the birthday of Jesus.
