Un inquietante itinerario moral a traves del tema de la muerte por mano propia, sin sucumbir al suicidio pero sin escapar de el. / In this singular work, the author takes us through all manner of imaginary suicides, among which can be found: the travel through and the loss of countries, the invention of characters who stop us from throwing ourselves off the precipice, the pursuit of other lives, to die from love, to collect tempests, to embrace the dead, to get lost, to resign oneself to the greyness of life, to become a ghost. This is an unsettling moral itinerary through the topic of death by ones own hand, without succumbing to suicide but without escaping it either.

Enrique Vila-Matas (Barcelona, 1948) is one of the most influential writers in contemporary Spanish-language literature, known for his style that blends fiction, essay, and autofiction. His work is characterized by a constant reflection on writing and the figure of the writer, exploring the boundaries between reality and fiction. Among his most notable novels are El viaje vertical (1999), El mal de Montano (2002), París no se acaba nunca (2003), and Montevideo (2022).
