Hoy ya no es necesario esperar nietos para que alguien se ría de tales profecías ingenuas, cada quien puede divertirse solo dejando en un cajón durante unos años aquello que hoy se describe como cuadro fiel del mañana. La tecnología que facilita la vida se convierte en la herramienta de su empobrecimiento, puesto que por los medios masivos de información pasa de ser una obediente multiplicadora de bienes espirituales a una productora de baratijas culturales. Ninguna religión puede hacer nada por la humanidad, dado que no es un saber empírico. Disminuye, por cierto, el dolor de vivir de los individuos, pero al mismo tiempo aumenta la suma de desgracias que aquejan a la totalidad, precisamente por su impotencia e inacción frente a los problemas del colectivo. Así pues, no es posible defenderla ni siquiera desde un punto de vista pragmático como una herramienta útil, porque es una herramienta mala, que es impotente ante los temas clave del mundo.
