I was twenty-four years old. I was hired to sell yellow pages ads in Saint Louis, Missouri. I love Saint Louis-It's where I met my first love. It holds a special meaning-you know? Well, didn't know the first thing about selling anything. I was wet behind the ears, as they used to tell me. I was green-they said. One day, I was about to quit. I wasn't making money; I was losing it. Gas costs money and the job required me to travel from one business to the next all day long. If I didn't make sales, I didn't make money. I didn't make sales. Anyway, I was about to quit when an older man convinced me to stay on while he taught me how to hypnotize people to buy from me. It sounded both exciting and unethical so I was skeptical but willing to try anything if it meant keeping a roof over my head. The man's name was Kevin. He was the best of the best.
