Synopsis "The Escape Room"

Priya Nandakumar booked the away-day because it was thirty-five pounds a head and didn't involve a ropes course. She did not book it to still be inside the building at midnight, negotiating with a talking skull for her colleagues' futures.Locknar Escape Experiences promises sixty minutes, five stars, and a very reasonably priced certificate. What it delivers is rather more complicated. The Ossuarium's puzzles solve themselves suspiciously well for one member of Priya's team, its clock keeps its own private opinions about how much time anyone's actually owed, and every clean win seems to feed something patient, ancient, and extremely pleased with the quality of tonight's footage.Winning doesn't get you out. Winning was never meant to.The Escape Room is a cheerfully overwrought slice of British horror-comedy about corporate team-building, ancient hungry things under converted furniture warehouses, and the appalling lengths a middle manager will go to for a five-star review. You won't want to leave. You may not be given the choice.
