Synopsis "The Fair Daffodil"

After the Civil War, seventeen year old Lynda O'Reilly marries a young army lieutenant bound for reconstruction era Texas. She stays in a boarding house in San Antonio waiting for him to arrive, but he and nineteen of his men vanish. The underman military force stationed in Texas can do little. She is eventually taken under the wings of two con artists who plan to hijack her goods and rape her. She is left without clothing and unconscious in far west Texas until she is saved by a Texas Ranger named Cooper. Cooper waits for her recovery, but they are in the center of Comanche territory with whom he may confront along with other outlaws lurking the perimeter. His goal is to get her to safety. That will be difficult to do with a cold blooded murderer carefully trailing behind intent on killing her.
