Gretchen Rubin is one of the most influential and suggestive observers of happiness and human nature today. She is known for her ability to convey complex ideas—from science to literature, through stories from her own life—with lightness and clarity.

She is the author of numerous bestsellers, such as The Happiness Project, Better Than Before, and The Four Tendencies, which have sold millions of copies in more than thirty languages. Her most recent book is Living with the Five Senses.

She is also the host of the popular podcast Happier with Gretchen Rubin and founder of the award-winning Happier app, which helps people follow their habits to increase happiness.

Gretchen Rubin has been interviewed by Oprah, has dined with Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman, has walked arm in arm with the Dalai Lama, has published articles about her work in a medical journal, has appeared in the New Yorker, and has participated in Jeopardy. After starting her career as a lawyer, she realized she wanted to be a writer while working for Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Raised in Kansas City, she lives in New York with her family.
