Albert Hofmann (1906-2008) was a Swiss chemist and writer known for his discovery of LSD in 1943. Although his work primarily focused on chemistry and pharmacology, he also ventured into writing, exploring the effects of psychedelic substances and their relationship with the human mind. His books belong to the genre of scientific dissemination and the philosophy of consciousness.

Among his most notable works is LSD: My Problem Child (1979), where he recounts his discoveries and experiences with this substance. He also co-authored The Road to Eleusis (1978), with R. Gordon Wasson and Carl A. P. Ruck, examining the use of psychoactive substances in ancient rituals. His legacy has influenced modern research on psychedelia and neuroscience.
