Synopsis "The Pickle Docks"

The Pickle Docks - I doubt if anyone has ever written a story about cucumbers. Not a terribly interesting vegetable by itself. Me? I don't care for them raw or even in salads. Dill pickles, sweet relish, bread and butter chips? Now that's a different story. However, suffice it to say that this story isn't about cucumbers either, but rather about the growers, the labor imported to harvest the crop, and the company that bought them for processing. Although the names have been changed, this story is based on an incident that once happened in a small village in Michigan when I was growing up. The Cemetery Road - Ever been to a cemetery at night on Halloween? Find out what happened a few years back in Lakeville when two youngsters wanted to try the experience! As we silently approach the cemetery gate, the wind picked up pushing black clouds across the face of the once-full moon. The balmy moonlit night suddenly began to turn dark, except for an occasional lightning flash in the distance. Thunder rumbled and we all walked a little closer together through the entrance. The gate moved back and forth with the wind, making rusty, squeaky sounds as if to warn us not to go any farther.
