Synopsis "The Pilgrimage"

How far would you travel to find someone you lost?He entered VIRGIL hoping to survive his grief. He never expected to find himself among the stars. After losing the woman he loved, a grieving man turns to an experimental therapeutic program known as VIRGIL-Virtual Immersive Reality for Guided Integration and Learning. What begins as treatment soon becomes something far stranger.Guided by a mysterious figure in an ash-gray cloak, he becomes the Pilgrim, journeying through ten worlds shaped by grief, anger, desire, fear, withdrawal, deception, pride, panic, paralysis, and despair. At the center of them all waits the Black Sun, a darkness from which no traveler can know what lies beyond.Yet one question follows the Pilgrim across every world.Where did she go?As the boundary between therapy and reality begins to disappear, the Pilgrim must confront the forces that keep a wounded mind trapped-and the possibility that VIRGIL may be showing him something beyond the limits of the program itself. And if the woman he lost is waiting somewhere beyond the darkness, finding her may not be the hardest part of the journey.Leaving her may be.
