The Sacristy - Jens Kofoed

When the village caretaker is found raped and strangled inside the locked church, the only building in Skarsvær everyone still trusts, the single coastal road has already vanished under six days of snow. No ferry. No backup. No forensics team flying in to save the case. Just Bjarni Ólafsson: sixty-year-old, quietly retired, the village's only constable for thirty-one years, and now the sole law enforcement standing over a body in a place too small to hold a secret, or so everyone always believed. But Margrét Halldórsdóttir kept secrets. She kept them for forty-six years, out of love, out of fear, out of the same instinct for silence that built this village and now, Bjarni is beginning to understand, may have killed one of its own.>Some villages don't have skeletons in the closet. They have them in the sacristy.
