Synopsis "Trace"

Nothing is added to the page. Nothing is left behind. One finger. In to the middle, and back out again. Slowly, or not. Twice, or once, or not at all today.Trace is a book of tracks: double spirals, long meanders, slow waves, laps and switchbacks, drawn as channels wide enough for a fingertip. You follow one in and follow it out. There is nothing to finish and nothing to keep up with, and you do not have to do it again. It works in a waiting room, on a train, at a kitchen table with somebody talking at you. It works when a pen would be one thing too many. There is no picture at the end. That is the point. The book runs in four parts: short ways in, the long way round, in and out again, and the slow ones. Sixty-four pages, 190 mm square paperback, for any age. From The Regulated Human Co. Regulation before optimisation. Read more
