The third offering in the anthology is SUFFERING THE CONSEQUENCES, in which Lord Matlock is in a quandary about what to do with his elder son who was spending an idle life at his father's expense. Matlock receives a report that his younger son has been wounded and he wants to go to the expected ship to collect him and take him home. Unfortunately, his wife has been suffering from anxiety and depression concerning her sons. Desperate for someone to stay with her while he is away, he asked Georgiana Darcy's friend Elizabeth to take on the responsibility.
