The researcher argues that the USAF's 40,000 person drawdown runs counter to fighting the GWOT, because it sends a message to its most precious resources that they are not needed. An alternate solution, in the form of a smaller cut, is necessary to keep the warrior ethos alive in our Airmen. The researcher argues that an alternate solution to the drawdown will help preserve USAF morale, retention, and recruitment, and guarantee our continued success in the GWOT.
