It was legally considered a separate town until 1872, when it merged with Orasu Nou (Hungarian: Vrad-jvros), Olosig (Hungarian: Vrad-Olaszi) and Subcetate (Hungarian: Vrad-Vralja) to form Nagyvrad (Oradea-Mare).
