Ramón Carnicer Blanco (Villafranca del Bierzo, 1912 – Barcelona, 2007) was a Spanish writer, philologist, and essayist, noted for his work in travel literature and linguistic essays. Graduated in Romance Philology from the University of Barcelona, he had a remarkable academic career and was the founder of the School of Modern Languages at the same university. His most recognized work is Where the Hurdes are called Cabrera (1964), the result of a trip through the Leonese region of La Cabrera in 1962, which became a benchmark in Spanish travel literature

In addition to his role as a traveler, Carnicer wrote novels such as The Golden Trees (1962) and The Cages (1990), and linguistic essays such as On Today's Language (1969). In 1961, he received the Leopoldo Alas Award for his work Tales of Yesterday and Today. His literary and academic legacy has been the subject of tributes and recognitions, including the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of León in 2000
