Richard Adams fue un novelista británico, nacido el 9 de mayo de 1920 en Newbury, Inglaterra. Estudió Historia en la Universidad de Oxford y sirvió en el ejército británico durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Tras la guerra, trabajó como funcionario público, pero fue la literatura la que lo llevaría a la fama internacional.

Su obra más conocida es Watership Down, publicada en 1972. La novela, que comenzó como un cuento para sus hijas, narra la épica travesía de un grupo de conejos en busca de un nuevo hogar. Aunque protagonizada por animales, la historia aborda temas profundos como el liderazgo, la libertad, el sacrificio y la supervivencia. El libro fue un éxito inmediato, ganando premios importantes y convirtiéndose en un clásico de la literatura contemporánea.
