Abdulrazak Gurnah
Abdulrazak Gurnah, born in Zanzibar in 1948, is a Tanzanian novelist who writes in English and has been living in the United Kingdom since the late 1960s. His work focuses on themes such as colonialism, displacement, and the refugee experience. Among his most notable novels are "Paradise" (1994), "By the Sea" (2001), and "Desertion" (2005). In 2021, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for his "unflinching and compassionate penetration of the effects of colonialism and the fate of the refugee".
