Boris studied Astronomy at the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics and worked at the Pulkovo Observatory. From 1960, he dedicated himself professionally to literature.
Roadside Picnic (1977), a novel that was adapted into a film, along with Hard to Be a God, are his most internationally known works.
Translated into more than forty languages, Boris Strugatsky's career barely developed after his brother's death in 1991, with just two works written under the pseudonym S. Vititsky.
