Emma Törzs
Emma Törzs is an American writer, teacher, and occasional translator born in 1987 and based in Minneapolis. Her work focuses on contemporary fantasy, with elements of magical realism and speculative literature. Her debut novel, Ink Blood Sister Scribe (2023), translated into Spanish as Tinta, sangre, hermana, escriba, has been published in more than 13 languages and has received praise from media outlets like The New York Times and NPR.
Törzs has been awarded the World Fantasy Award in 2019 for short story, the O. Henry Prize in 2015, and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 2020. Her short stories have appeared in magazines such as Ploughshares, Uncanny Magazine, and Strange Horizons. She is a graduate of the Clarion West program (2017) and holds an MFA in fiction from the University of Montana. She currently teaches at Macalester College.
